|Sahitya Sabha national advisory council meet|
NAGAON, May 15 - The steering committee meeting of Asam Sahitya Sabha was held on May 13 at Nagaon, which was chaired by its president Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi. Later, talking to media persons, Dr Rajbongshi informed that Asam Sahitya Sabha has strongly opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Further, he said that Sabha was always in favour of use of Assamese language in Unicode and introduction of Assamese medium at the degree level.
He further said that a convention of three national advisory councils of the Sabha will be held in Guwahati on May 28 and Sabha will follow the instructions of the May 28 convention. All former presidents of Asam Sahitya Sabha, presidents of ethnic sahitya sabha of different communities of the State, AASU, AJYCP, College Principals’ Council, ACTA, Sadau Asam Karmachari Parishad, different teachers’ units, Asam Natya Sanmilan, Asam Lekhika Santha, Asam Lekhika Samarooh, non-political youth and student organisations of the State have been invited to the May 28 convention.
Secretary General of the Sabha Padum Rajkhuwa informed that the meeting of the sub committees of Kuhi Akash and inter-State friendship unit of the sabha will also be held.
