Yechury slams ‘power greedy’ BJP

BELONIA (SOUTH TRIPURA), May 15 - CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Monday alleged that the BJP has adopted a ‘new strategy’ to capture power as it had already demonstrated it in three States – Goa, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.

“In Tripura, the saffron party is dreaming to gain power by toppling the popular Left Front Government but people will give it a befitting reply in due course of time”, he said.

Yechury was addressing a rally at BKI ground marking the commencement of Student Federation of India’s (SFI) State level conference.

He said there has been persistent efforts to create trouble in the State ahead of the Assembly elections. “People of the State will put up a strong resistance in the 2018 Assembly elections and make the Left Front victorious”, he hoped.

Yechury said Narendra Modi has done ‘a lot’ for the country during the past three years and he will reveal whatever he had done in Guwahati conference.

“Ujala India has turned into a bleak India during the Modi regime”, he said, adding that the downtrodden people have suffered a lot during the past three years. “People are hopeless as job opportunity has been shrinking with every passing day. RSS has been unleashing terror in the name of secularism. Educational institutions have become soft target of the saffron brigade”, he alleged.

The CPM leader also criticised the government policy on employment. “Lakhs of posts are lying vacant in various Central Government departments but there is no move to fill up these posts. Farmers and lobourers are not getting job due to wrong policy of the Centre”, he said.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and CPI(M) Central Committee member Badal Chowdhury also addressed the rally.
