GUWAHATI, May 15 - The University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM), organised a “Research scholars’ and guides’ meet” today for the smooth functioning of research works. Professor Chandan Sarma, Head of the Department of Sociology, Tezpur University, was present as a distinguished speaker on the occasion. Vice Chancellor of the university Dr PG Rao chaired the meet in presence of Pro Vice-Chancellor of USTM, Dr RK Sharma; CV Raman Chair Professor of USTM Prof Amarjyoti Choudhury and all the deans of the respective schools and faculty members.
“The intention behind this meet is to lay emphasis on the research and development initiatives of USTM and bring all the research scholars, guides and faculties on the same platform to share their knowledge,” said a statement.
During his address, Professor Sarma appreciated the efforts of the USTM for organising scholar-guide meets on a regular basis. According to him, such meetings will enhance the scope of interdisciplinary research works. He urged the scholars to gather maximum knowledge in their research domain and meet and interact with the researchers of cross disciplines.
USTM Vice Chancellor Dr Rao, while addressing the scholars, laid stress on the importance of discipline while carrying out their research works. He requested the scholars to identify the problems and to solve them immediately with their respective guides.
