NORTH LAKHIMPUR, May 14 – The North Lakhimpur Municipality Board would get a grant of Rs 1 crore from the State PWD for various developmental works, said Lakhimpur MLA, Utpal Dutta at a meeting held here on May 10.The Lakhimpur MLA was speaking at the board meeting of North Lakhimpur Development Board (NLDB) held in its office. The meeting was chaired by the chairman of NLDB, Bogendra Kumar Borgohain. It was attended by the Deputy Director, Town and Country Planning, Kanakeswar Hazarika, chairman of North Lakhimpur Municipality Board, Kaminee Borah, board members, various office-bearers of NLDB, engineers, planners and valuators.
Visiting the office of NLDB for the first time since his election as MLA in 2011, Dutta took stock of all the developmental works carried out by the board and reviewed the various schemes taken up by it under different heads.
He informed that State PWD Minister, Ajanta Neog had promised allocation of Rs 1 crore for North Lakhimpur Municipality Board during the last Assembly session. He said the amount would be released in October this year. He also informed about his plan to improve the VIP Road connecting North Lakhimpur town with Leelabari airport.
Chairman of North Lakhimpur Development Board, Bogendra Kr Buragohain refuted the rumours about the closure of development authorities in the districts of Assam and assured the employees that their jobs would be regularised. He also demanded a grant of Rs 1 crore from the State Government for various developmental works of NLDB.
