GUWAHATI, May 14 – In support of their various demands, the Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad would stage a sit-in demonstration on May 16, at Dispur Last Gate from 11 am to 3 pm. According to a statement, the Parishad wanted the solution of all their problems through discussion with the State government but the latter’s indifferent attitude has compelled the workers’ union to take this step.
“Though the pay of the government workers has been revised, the arrear for 33 months have still not been paid. Moreover, the Parishad has been demanding an enhancement in the medical allowance from Rs 350 to Rs 1,500 for better medical care of the employees, which has not been provided yet,” a statement from Parishad said.
