KMSS takes out torchlight rally

 GUWAHATI, May 14 – Members of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today took out torchlight processions all over the State in protest against the police atrocities on the anti-mega dam protestors at Ghagornagar in Lakhimpur district on May 11.

The members of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad, Takam Mishing Poring Kebang, All Tai Ahom Students’ Union, All Assam Deuri Students’ Union, Sonowal Kachari Jatiya Parishad, Chutiya Jati Chatra Santha, Anuchuchita Jati Chatra Santha also took part in the processions. It needs mention here that the KMSS is running the anti-mega dam stir in association with all these organisations.

The police arrested 14 protestors, physically tortured them and dismantled their camp that night. Police also arrested five office-bearers of the KMSS in Dhemaji and two office-bearers of the Samiti today, the KMSS said in a statement.

The police have so far arrested 21 anti-mega dam protestors and sent them to jail and have wounded several others.

The members of the KMSs along with the members of the above organisations, will stage sit-in demonstrations all over the State on May 16 in protest against the police action against the anti-mega dam agitationists, said the KMSS in its statement.
