GUWAHATI, May 14 – Members of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) today studied the phenomenon of abnormal rise in the prices of the essential items in their respective local markets.
The AASU members studied the rise in the prices of the essential items during the past fortnight. The local people also extended full cooperation to the AASU members during their study.
The members of the students’ body will submit memorandums to the Chief Minister through their respective Deputy Commissioners and Sub-divisional Officers on the issue tomorrow and to formally place the demand for urgent steps to arrest rise in the prices of essential commodities and also to punish the hoarders and smugglers of essential items, said an AASU press release here.
In the city, members of the All Guwahati Students’ Union (AGSU) conducted study of the phenomenon in the market.
The AGSU members conducted the study at the Fancy Bazar business hub and at the markets located at Ganeshguri, Six Mile, Beltola, Dispur Super Market, Kahilipara, Hengerabari, Chandmari, Bamunimaidam Colony, Athgaon, Satgaon, Narengi, Noonmati, Ulubari, Bhangagarh, Paltanbazar, Kachari, Machkhowa, Maligaon, Bharalu and Dharapur, said an AGSU statement.
