|GMC drive to check hygiene in health-related trade entities|
GUWAHATI, May 11 - The Health Branch of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Friday conducted an intensive drive in Ganeshguri area under the supervision of Senior Medical Officer Anindita Chanda in respect of health and sanitation of various health-related trades.
During the inspection, the trades running without valid trade licences, defaulters in renewal of trade licence, and those functioning in unhygienic conditions were identified and accordingly requisite penalties imposed as per the GMC Act followed by issuance of notices.
“A total of 26 health-related trades were inspected and Rs 14,000 realised towards penalties. These activities will be continued by Health Branch, GMC till improvement of health scenario in the city,” a GMC official said.
The GMC also appealed to all the traders to ensure cleanliness and hygiene of their respective trades, warning that any violation of the norms would be viewed seriously for which stringent measures would be taken under provisions of the GMC Act.
