Survey of flood mitigation works

 GUWAHATI, May 11 - A team of senior government officials led by Principal Secretary, Guwahati Development Department, Maninder Singh along with Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup Metropolitan district, Biswajit Pegu, Commissioner, GMC, CEO, GMDA, and other officials from DDMA, GMC, GMDA, NHAI, PWD (R), etc., conducted a survey of the progress of flood mitigation works being executed by different departments in the flood-prone areas of the city.

The high level team on Saturday visited the flood-prone areas here such as Khanapara, VIP Road, Satgaon, Narangi, Bonda and few others, and reviewed the flood mitigation works and also directed the departments concerned to expedite the desiltation, excavation and cleaning of all the natural water channels in and around the city, including major and internal drains and adopt long-term measures to mitigate the city’s artificial waterlogging problem.
