DHEMAJI, May 10 – Brisk preparations are on to celebrate Phaat Bihu at Dhakuakhana, the most famous and historic Bihu of the greater area at Mohghuli Chapari from May 11 with a three-day programme.
In this connection a celebration committee was constituted with Sabilal Jain as president and Pranjal Gohain as general secretary.
According to the agenda, the Phaat Bihu function will begin on May 11 at 9 am with flag hoisting by Keshab Gogoi. It will be followed by smriti tarpan initiated by Sabilal Jain. At 10 am the Bihu mancha will be opened by the ex-headmaster Tarun Patir where Taka Bihu and Chamonia Bihu competitions will be held.
The second day’s programme will begin with Kapou phul Plantation in the morning which will be followed by Phulam gamocha and husori contests. In the afternoon, “Bihuwan”, the souvenir of Phaat Bihu will be released by senior journalist and literateur Umesh Chetia.
On the concluding day a colourful cultural procession will be taken out at 9.30 am which will be flagged off by artist Shymantika Sarma. The most attractive Mukali Bihu contest will be held at 12 noon and it will be followed by open session which will be inaugurated by Lakhimpur DC Dr A Choudhury.
Pranati Phukan, cultural Minister, Assam will grace the open meeting as chief guest while Dr Anjanjyoti Choudhury, writer Paramananda Rajbonshee and Sharadi Saikia, secretary, Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra will attend the open meeting as distinguished guests respectively.
Dr Anil Saikia, principal, Moran College and Nitumoni Saikia, executive editor, News Live will participate in the meeting as appointed speakers respectively.
Besides them, MP Ranee Narah, MLA Naba Kumar Doley, Lakhimpur SP Prasanta Bhuyan, SDO(Civil), Dhakuakhana Bubul Lekharu and several other dignitaries will attend the open meeting as guests of honour respectively.
The celebration committee has appealed all people irrespective of caste and community to cooperate and to be present in the Phaat Bihu celebration.
