Prayer held for boat mishap victims

 GOLAKGANJ, May 6 – A prayer session for those who were killed in the tragic ferry mishap on April 30 was arranged by the Assam State Jamiat Ulema on Friday. Moulana Syed Arshad Madani, president, All India Jamiat Ulema Hind was also present and prayed along with the people.

The ‘Duah’ continued till half an hour. Madani said that the Government should take an important initiative to develop the communication between Medertari, Poravita and Dhubri. Further, the boats and ferries should undergo proper fitness check-ups before plying on the Brahmaputra river to prevent such mishaps.

Moulana Abdul Jalil Ragibi, president, State Jamiat Ulema, Moulana Sohidur Rahman, general secretary, Dhubri district Jamiat, Abdur Rajjak, vice president, Dhubri district Jamiat, Rockybul Hussain, Forest Minister and Jabed Islam, MLA, Mankachar were also present in the Duah ceremony.

GK Vasan, Union Shipping Minister, also visited the spot and expressed his sympathies to the relatives of the victims. One more dead body was recovered by the local people on Saturday. It was identified as that of Enamul Hoque (7), son of Ajibar Rahman of Boro Udmari.
