GUWAHATI, May 6 – The Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika Bota (award)-2011 was formally presented to singers Jublee and Angarag Mahanta at a function on the concluding day of the Beltola Bohagi Utsav recently.Both were honoured with a citation and Rs 2lakh each.
Veteran singer Sudakshina Sarma gave away the awards.
The Patmadoi contest which drew participation from top Bihu Ranis and Bihu Samragyee was won by Sangeeta Gogoi of Dhemaji. She received a citation, a trophy and Rs 2 lakh. Mousumi Bora was adjudged Bihu Rani who received a citation and Rs 1.21 lakh. The best Bihuwati award was bagged by Ena Das who received a citation and Rs 1 lakh.
The best Hussori team award was bagged by Rongmon Hussori Dol of Moran. It received a citation and Rs 1 lakh. The second best Hussori team award went to Ronghar Hussori Dol of Sivasagar which got a citation and Rs 51,000.
The Charu Gohain memorial award for the best local singer was won by Pompi Bora.
Guinness record holder athlete Abhijit Baruah was felicitated on the occasion with a citation and a one-time grant of Rs 1 lakh.
Zubeen Garg, Angarag Mahanta, Jublee, Bidyasagar, Priyanka Bharali, Bipin Chaodang and Rupa Mili enthralled the audience during the cultural functions of the four-day celebration.
