CPI to stage demo over LPG crisis today
Staff reporter
GUWAHATI, May 6 – Terming the shortage of LPG cylinders as an ‘artificial crisis’, the State unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has decided to organise a protest demonstration in the city tomorrow.

The protest action would start from in front of the Judges’ Field at 1 pm and demonstration would be staged in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro). A memorandum would also be submitted to the DC.

“There has been an artificial crisis of LPG cylinders since the past few weeks and the people are facing immense trouble due to this. We would urge the district authorities to nab the culprits behind this disorder,” said Tiken Das, secretary of Kamrup Metro District Unit of the CPI.

“Similarly, there has also been an acute shortage of PDS items and the supply of ration per head is inadequate. On the other hand, increasing prices of all the essential commodities have hit the common people hard. Through the demonstration, we would ask the district administration and the State government to take necessary steps to give some respite to the common people,” he added.
