The last date of filing nomination papers for various posts of GSA was over yesterday as the annual general meeting and the election will be held on May 7. But non of the candidates other than Goswami filed nomination paper for the president’s post. Likewise for the secretary’s post only candidate to file nomination was Ibocha Singh and as a result Singh will be the next secretary of the leading district sports body of the State.

As per the information available from a GSA source, till yesterday, nomination papers were filed for the football secretary’s post by Hem Das and Sajal Sengupta. If one of them withdraws by tomorrow, this year all the 17 members of the new body will be elected uncontested.

Reigning president, State Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s name was not proposed by his club, Gauhati Town Club and as per the constitution GSA cannot recomend his name for the president’s post, revealed the GSA source.
