CM’s funds for academic schemes

 GUWAHATI, May 4 – Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today inaugurated a series of academic schemes and a convention of college principals and student union bodies at the Rabindra Bhawan here.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister sanctioned amounts of Rs 1 crore each for infrastructure development of 36 colleges, Rs 14.70 lakh each for infrastructure development of 102 colleges in rural areas, Rs 4 lakh each for construction of girls common room in five colleges and Rs 2 lakh each for educational tours of 197 colleges among others.

Addressing the function, Gogoi stressed the need for introduction of new courses at college level in keeping with the global changes taking place in the spheres of education.

He also emphasized on expanding vocational and professional education in the State.
