Dibrugarh Zilla Parishad ranked country's 2nd

 DIBRUGARH, May 2 – Dibrugarh has taken pride in being ranked 2nd best district in the country and bagging the best district position in the State for its remarkable performance in the implementation of development programmes in the rural areas.

Zilla Parishad president Meena Teli today told mediapersons that the national award had come as a great encourgement and boost to the officials, employees, panchayat members and field workers of Zilla Parishad. Meena Teli received the award from the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India on the National Panchayati Raj Day on April 24 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Teli was handed over an appreciation letter and a cheque of Rs 25 lakh as incentive grant under the Panchayat Empowerment and Accountability Incentive Scheme (PEAIS) for the year 2011-12.

The Zilla Parishad president further said that she would lead the organisation in making headways in every department for overall development of the district in future.
