Movement for separate Bodoland to intensify
Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, May 2 – The People’s Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement today decided to intensify its demand for a separate Bodoland and announced its resolution to launch a peaceful mass movement.

The chief convener of the committee, Jebra Ram Muchahary said that the Government of India must spell out exactly what kind of solution it has mooted for the long-standing Bodoland issue.

“We appreciate and welcome the positive gesture of the Ministry of Home Affairs to settle the 45-year-old continuous demand for a separate Bodoland within three months. We reiterate that nothing short of a separate State is acceptable to us,” maintained Muchahary.

The committee has called a 36-hour Assam bandh from May 7, demonstration at the district level on May 18, 12-hour national highway blockade on May 25 and 12-hour railway line blockade on June 8.
