Drive against illegal sale of LPG cylinders

 GUWAHATI, March 29 – To stop black marketing of LPG cylinders ( domestic category), the district administration, Kamrup (Metro) has directed joint enforcement drives against hotels, restaurants, road side dhabas, industrial houses etc which will continue till ensuing of Bohag Bihu.

The joint drive began today.

Two teams comprising the officials of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Legal Metrology Department, Health Department posted in Kamrup Metropolitan district including officials and technical persons of Indian Oil Corporation Limited are involved in this joint drive.

“We have been receiving complaints about scarcity of LPG cylinders. To curb alleged black marketing/diversion and unauthorised use of LPG refills in commercial establishments and to stop alleged selling of under weight LPG refills to registered consumers, we have launched this joint drive,” informed an official.

The district administration will also look into the complaint that LPG cylinders (domestic category) which have gone beyond their effective line are in circulation amongst consumers. Such LPG cylinders pose risk to public life and property.
