|Observers review election preparedness|
TEZPUR, March 28 - Election Observers for 9-Tezpur HPC, Saroj Kumar and B Malla Reddy, took stock of the preparations for the ensuing Lok Sabha election. In this connection a meeting was held which was attended by Returning Officer for 9-Tezpur HPC Narsing Pawar, and District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath Pabitra Khound, SDO (C ) and DEO, Gohpur Narendra Kumar Shah, ADC Sonitpur KK Sharma, SP Sonitpur, Kumar Sanjit Krishna, SP Biswanath Rakesh Roushan, Additional SP Sonitpur Numal Mahat and Election Officer of Biswanath, Abul Kalam.
The officers apprised the observers about various steps taken to ensure a free and peaceful election in the constituency. Observer B Malla Reddy assessed the security aspects and steps taken to carry out vulnerability mapping across the entire Tezpur HPC and made necessary suggestions in this connection. Saroj Kumar also took stock of the preparations taken by the administration to facilitate PWD voters to exercise their franchise. He also assessed the training and deployment of poll personnel, awareness activities, postal ballot, etc.
DEO Biswanath, Pabitra Khound and SDO (C ) and DEO, Gohpur Narendra Kumar Shah apprised the observers that the preparations for conducting the elections are well on track. For smooth conduct of the polls, Tezpur election district has been divided into 30 zones and 98 sectors covering all 1118 polling stations in the district. Similarly, Biswanath election district has been divided into 5 zones and 36 sectors and there are 352 polling stations under its jurisdiction. On the other hand, Gohpur election district has 228 polling stations and has been divided into nine zones and 28 sectors for smooth functioning. Similarly, there are 182 polling stations in Bihpuria LAC.
After making necessary observations and suggestions, the central Observers expressed satisfaction with the overall preparedness in the constituency.
