SILCHAR, March 28 - In a bid to recognize the contribution of the Accredidated Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers in Cachar, the District Health Society organized a convention of the ASHA workers at the Police Parade ground on Tuesday.
A large number of ASHA workers from different blocks of the district attended the conference.
Addressing the gathering, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan said, “Contribution of ASHA workers have been phenomenal in bringing about a perceptional change in the health situation in the district and across the State as well. Assam is among the high focus States in the country where the maternal mortality rate and the infant mortality rate are significantly high. Hence, the ASHA workers need to reach out to the people in the remote areas to disseminate messages of health awareness.”
