GUWAHATI, March 28 - To promote the Namami Brahmaputra festival, the Kamrup Metro district administration along with the Education Department is organising a cultural rally on March 30 from Nehru Stadium to Judges’ Field.
The rally will begin at 8 am that day, said Dr M Angamuthu, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro.
“The Inspector of Schools and the District Elementary Education Officer, Kamrup Metro, has already been instructed to chalk out the programme for the participation of the students to make Namami Brahmaputra, the biggest river festival in India, a great success. For this purpose, instructions have been given to the concerned authorities to provide buses for the transportation of the students,” he said.
The DC appealed to all the students and the teachers community to be part of the event “which would endorse the tourism and natural resources of the State and also glorify the mighty River Brahmaputra”.
Apart from this, the Kamrup Metro district administration is organising an on-the-spot painting competition and essay competition on the theme of ‘The mighty river Brahmaputra’ at the Guwahati Circuit House on March 30 to create awareness among the student community.
