Kamatapur state demand reiterated

 GUWAHATI, March 27 – The All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) and Sodou Koch Rajbongshi Mohila Samiti submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh through the Assam Chief Minister demanding creation of separate Kamatapur State, inclusion of Koch Rajbongshi community as Scheduled Tribe (P) and inclusion of Rajbongshi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

Meanwhile, the students’ union and the Mohila Samiti staged a sit-in demonstration at last Gate area pressing for the fulfillment of their demands.

The organizations alleged that although Assam Government had promised to solve the issues concerning the Koch Rajbongsi community, nothing has been done so far.
