SHILLONG, March 23 - BJP’s Shillong Lok Sabha candidate, Sanbor Shullai today said people should vote for the BJP in the State as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming back to power.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will form the Government at the Centre,” he said, adding the people would be better off with an MP from the same party at the Centre.
During the past five years the maximum financial assistance was given to Meghalaya by the Centre, he said after a meeting with party functionaries following his nomination to contest for the seat by his party.
On the Citizen’s (Amendment) Bill, over which the BJP has faced the ire of the people in the State, Shullai said the CAB is a “dead issue.” “The CAB is a dead issue now,” Shullai said.
Shullai offered his resignation to the party at the peak of the CAB agitation in the region. In his letter to the Prime Minster, he said that if the CAB is passed in the Rajya Sabha he would resign from the party. Expressing confidence of winning the seat, Shullai said he has “full faith and confidence on the voters.”
