JORHAT, March 22 – The Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste Morcha national president Dushyant Kumar Gautam criticised the State Government for its alleged negligence towards the welfare of the Scheduled Caste (SC) population as it diverted the public money allocated by the Central Government for the social security and development of those people residing in various parts of the State.
Addressing a press conference here today, Gautam said that the Central Government within a short period has launched several welfare schemes to provide necessary facilities for economic progress and social security of SC people as the Finance Minister Arun Jaitely announced in the Budget allocation for loan-benefit with a very low interest-rate to the youths for industrial and commercial activities in the State as well as other parts of the country.
To ensure the economic security and progress in career of the girls the Prime Minister recently launched small deposit scheme (Sukanya Samridhi Yojana) for girl child, as part of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign, which would fetch an interest rate of 9.1 per cent and provide income tax rebate, he said.
Citing many other schemes of the Central Government for the economic progress of all communities including SCs in the country the national president of BJP’s SC Morcha said that the State Government’s lack of will for the proper implementation of the welfare schemes deprived the Scheduled Caste population of the actual benefit of the centrally-sponsored schemes.
Accompanied by Jorhat MP Kamakhya Tasa, BJP’s State secretary Santanu Tamuli and many other senior State leaders of SC Morcha and the district unit Gautam attended a public meeting at the local Malowali Playground which witnessed a huge gathering today. He also visited several villages of Scheduled Caste people of Jorhat and Dergaon since Saturday to take stock of their actual condition of living and progress.
