NFR win thrilling opener in veteran cricket

 GUWAHATI, March 22 – NF Railway Sports Association edged past Bajali by one run in the thrilling opener of the seventh Veteran Invitational Inter District Cricket Tournament. At the Nehru Stadium here today, opting to bat first the railwaymen notched up 146 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. But despite a dashing 41-ball 71 by man-of-the-match Nitul Sarma, Bajali failed to romp home by just one run as they were all out for 145 in the stipulated overs. Earlier, RB Indrajit top scored for the winning team with 68. In the inaugural function president of the Veteran Cricket Association of Assam, the organisers, Naba Konwar hosted the organising committee flag.

Badal Thakur, Niloy Dutta, Bikash Baruah, Rajib Prakash Baruah, Pradip Phukan, Subodh Malla Baruah, Kalyan Baruah, Umesh Sarma were present in the inaugural function as guests.
