2 more swine flu cases detected in Mizoram

AIZAWL, March 19 – With detection of two more cases of H1N1 today, the total number of swine flu affected people in Mizoram has climbed to four, an official statement said.

The situation in the State was disturbing as the two patients identified today in Mizoram-Assam border Kolasib district claimed that they never ventured outside the State, the statement issued by Health department here said.

“It has become extremely difficult to gauge the extent of the spread of H1N1 in the State due to the fact that the two patients seem to have been infected inside the State,” it said.

Out of ten samples sent to the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED), Kolkata, four were found to be positive.

The statement said that two patients, one of them from Delhi and another one a local person, were recuperating at the Falkawn Referral Hospital while another patient was being treated at home. – PTI
