Protest observed against killing of non-Manipuri

 IMPHAL, March 18 - All shops owned by non-Manipuris in Thangal bazaar here remained closed on Saturday in protest against the killing of a youth in Imphal East.

Ajay Kumar Sahu, 24, was found shot death yesterday on a road side near Langol village under Lamphel Police Station. The deceased, a pan shop owner, was originally from Bihar.

A joint action committee (JAC) organised a sit-in protest demanding justice in the killing of the youth. The JAC president Sitaram Sahu told media, “We want the government to give compensation of Rs 20 lakh and a government job to the next of kin.” “Culprits should be brought to book within three days. The body now lying in the mortuary will not be claimed until the the government fulfills all demands,” Sitaram demanded.
