GUWAHATI, March 17 – Assam Sports Journalists Association (ASJA) will host the All India JK Bose Cricket and AC Bali Table Tennis Championship along with the annual convention of Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) here from March 20 to 24. Giving details about the championship, ASJA president Subodh Malla Baruah and secretary Saurav Kumar Bora said about 80 leading sports journalists from all over the country will gather for the convention and sports events. The JK Bose meet will be played among four zonal teams – North, South, East and West while 16 SJFI affiliated State units will participate in the TT meet. Apart from that football penalty shoot-out, basketball free throw will also be organised during the five-day event.
The SJFI will organise a seminar of athletics on March 20 while another seminar on football of North Eastern Region, specially on Shillong Lajong Football Club will be held on next day.
The cricket tournament will be organised at the Nehru Stadium and the Judges’ Field while the TT meet will be played at Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium, informed the organisers.
Baruah further informed that organisations like Assam Cricket Association, Assam Olympic Association, Assam Table Tennis Association, OIL, NRL, ONGC, Mega Assam Board, Star Cement, Topcem, NEEPCO, Lajong FC, SBI, DS Group and Rose Valley are extending helping help in organising the event.
