Correspondent
HAILAKANDI, March 16 - Barak Valley Divisional Commissioner Dr Anwaruddin Choudhury reviewed the law-and-order situation and poll preparedness in Hailakandi district.

Reviewing the poll preparedness with district administration officials, officers in charge of different cells, magistrates and election officials at the DC’s conference room here on Friday, Dr Choudhury asked the officials to ensure that every voter whose name is enrolled in the voters’ list is able to exercise his or her vote without any difficulty.

“Efforts must be made so that the voting process is a hassle-free experience for the voters,” said Dr Choudhury.

The Barak Valley Division Commissioner also took stock of the law-and-order situation. He asked the administration to make adequate provisions for the voters with disabilities, including transportation and wheelchairs.

Earlier, Election Officer Rajib Doley apprised the Commissioner of the various activities being taken up under the SVEEP programme to create awareness and increase voters’ participation.

Later, Dr Anwaruddin supervised the mock polling station opened in the premises of Deputy Commissioner’s office.
