‘Bengali Hindus are not foreigners’
Correspondent
UDALGURI, March 16 - Bengali Hindus are an integral part of the state and have greatly contributed to the formation of the greater Assamese society.

The community can very well boast of being Assamese-speaking Bengalis who have assimilated and embraced the tradition, language, culture and even food habits of the Assamese society.

This was observed by the chief adviser to All BTC Bengali Youth Students’ Federation (ABBYSF) Shyamal Sarkar here at the Durga Mandir playground premises at Dimakuchi in Udalguri district on Thursday.

Speaking at the open session of the 8th and 10th joint biennial conference of Udalguri district chapter of ABBYSF and Dimakuchi unit of ABBYSF, he exhorted the state government to promptly release the Hindu Bengali citizens who have been languishing in detention camps due to lack of legal documents and also appealed to the government for ending the D-voter issue once and for all.
