GCCC down Navarang, River Rine win

 GUWAHATI, March 16 – Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre (GCCC) and River Rine Club recorded victories in today’s matches of the Navarang Club organised T-20 cricket tournament for the Nilimoy Choudhury Memorial Trophy.

In the day’s first encounter at the Judges’ Field here, GCCC posted a facile eight-wicket victory against host Navarang Club while in the second match, River Rine handed a 34-run drubbing to New Star Club.

Batting first, Navarang managed to score 120 for nine in the stipulated 20 overs. Man-of-the-match Bikash Chetry wrecked the Navarang innings with a four wicket haul. But the total was too small as GCCC reached the target losing two wickets. River Rine gathered 162 in the second match after batting first and restricted New Star to 128 for eight.

Brief scores: Navarang 120/9 (Manoj Malo 38, Niraj Tiwari 35, Bikash Chetri 4/23, Bitop Mahanta 3/13). GCCC 121/2 (Abhijit Sinha Roy 40, Pallav Das 34). River Rine 162/6 (Raj Thapa 31, Raj Biswa 31, Nikhil Mittal 3/19, Angshuman Saikia 2/25). New Star 128/8 (Kapil Gurdhar 33, Bikash Singh 3/22, RajuKalita 2/18, Raj Biswa 2/21).

Today’s matches: River Rine vs Santipur; GTC vs Navarang.
