BJP to bite the dust: APCC
Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, March 15 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is sure to bite the dust in the ensuing Assembly elections of the State. Its tacit electoral understanding with the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) is not going to save it from such a misery, claimed the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) here today. In a statement, the APCC said that the tacit understanding between the BJP and the AIUDF has now come to the open. Because of this understanding between the two political parties apparently ‘standing poles apart’, the AIUDF is going to field candidates in many Legislative Assembly Constituencies of the Upper Assam districts where it has no political presence.

This is done with one aim in view – to divide the minority votes for the benefit of the BJP and thus to throw a spanner on the way of the Congress, said the APCC.

AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has entered into this alliance with the motive to expand his business empire with the support of the BJP. And for that he has not bothered to surrender the cause of the minorities of the State at the feet of the BJP.

The BJP has also failed to project itself as the champion of the minorities’ cause, said the APCC.
