GUWAHATI. March 13 - ‘Gamkharu’ – a socio-cultural organization of Assamese women of western Mumbai visited ‘Sneha Sadan’ at Andheri, Mumbai in connection with the celebration of Women’s Day on March 10 last under the leadership of Preeti Bhagawati and Geeta Sarma.
‘Sneha Sadan’ is a non-government organization for the underprivileged, orphan, destitute children, which was established in 1962. It undertakes various programmes and activities under the Children Welfare Council of India. Its aim and objective is to provide holistic development to the children along with academics so that they can grow up to be useful citizen of the country in days to come. At present alogether 30 inmates are staying at ‘Sneha Sadan’, a press release stated.
On the occasion, the members of ‘Gamkharu’ started their programme with a bhajan followed by quiz, discussion on social problems, singing and dancing by the children. All the inmates took part and displayed their talents through various activities and had lots of fun with the members of ‘Gamkharu’. At close, the members distributed various gifts and necessary daily items for the inmates of ‘Sneha Sadan’. Runa Sharma of ‘Gamkharu’ informed that they were rendering such social activities since a long time.
