BONGAIGAON, March 13 - Bongaigaon entered the league stage of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament after emerging champions in the Bongaigaon Zone.
In the two-day knock-out match at Bongaigaon, the host team defeated Barpeta by a thin but vital four-run first innings lead.
In reply to Bongaigaon’s first inning total of 153, Barpeta were all out for 149. Sunil Ranjan Gogoi was the pick of the bowlers with a five-wicket haul which played a vital role in ensuring Bongaigaon’s lead.
In the second innings, Bongaigaon scored 181 and in reply Barpeta were 131 for six when stumps were finally drawn today.
