Manipur faces LS polls on April 11 and 18
 IMPHAL, March 11 - Manipur would go to Lok Sabha polls on April 11 and April 18. Disclosing this, State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) PK Singh last night said Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency would go to polls on April 11 while the election in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency has been scheduled fro April 18.

The last date for submission of nomination papers is March 25 for Outer constituency and March 26 for Inner constituency.

Due election notification for the Outer LS seat and Inner LS seat would be issued on March 18 and March 19 respectively while the scrutiny of nomination papers would be done on March 26 and March 27. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers for Outer and Inner seats are March 28 and March 29. Counting of votes will be done on May 23 and May 27 has been fixed for completion of the entire election process.

He added that all women polling stations and model polling stations have been identified. One Model Polling Station and at least two women polling stations will be set up in each of the 60 constituency segments and facilities for people with disabilities to cast their votes in the election will be made available, he stated.

Thirty companies of security forces – six CRPF, 13 BSF, two Railway Protection Force have arrived in the State, besides State forces. Anthother 70 companies are expected to be deployed during the course of the election.

There will be a meeting in the next week with the Paramilitary, Army and Assam Rifles seeking their co-operation for sealing the international border for a free and fair poll. A proposal has been sent that the inmates residing in the Suspension of Operation camps must be confined at the camps and get a chance to vote through postal ballot.

With the announcement of the Election Schedule by the Election Commission of India, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect immediately and will be applicable throughout the State in respect of all candidates, political parties, the State Government and the Centre.

Meanwhile, media persons stationed in districts had an interaction with the concerned Deputy Commissioner or the District Election Officer today.
