Cong urges EC to remove Govt banners, hoardings

 GUWAHATI, March 11 - Opposition Congress party has called upon the Election Commission to take measures for removal of government banners, hoardings and advertisements from public spaces for the sake of ensuring free and fair Lok Sabha elections.

A delegation of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today met the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, here and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

“... since model code of conduct has (sic) in force, therefore, order/direction may be issues to removal (sic) all the existing government hoardings/government advertisement/wall writing/poster, etc. immediately to conduct free and fair election... we request your honour to issue order/direction to remove all the existing government hoardings/government advertisement/wall writing/poster, etc. immediately to conduct free and fair election,” stated the memorandum.

The Congress delegation was headed by APCC general secretary (organisation) Ranjan Bora.
