Huge rally in Dhubri

 DHUBRI, March 10 - Various organisations of the district, along with AASU today took out a massive rally in Dhubri and staged a demonstration in front of the Office of Deputy Commissioner demanding appropriate action towards protection of the indigenous people of the State and justice for the recent Silapathar incident.

Members of ASSU, All Assam Gorimoriya Deshi Parishad, AJYCP, Bhojpuri Parishad, Assam Sahitya Sabha along with other students’ organisations, literary bodies and women’s wing jointly demanded arrest of Subodh Biswa, the prime accused in the Silapathar incident. The organisations also demanded protection of the indigenous people by releasing the NRC soon. The organisations also warned of a vigorous agitation if the culprits behind the Silapathar incident are not put behind the bars immediately.

“The State government should take up the issue seriously and take immediate steps towards protection and promotion of the indigenous people,” said Sahnawaz Hussain of the Goriya Moriya Deshi Parishad.
