People of Assam have been benefitted after regime change ending a long 15-year Congress Government there as it received Rs 10,000 crore worth of investment during the past eight months, he said while addressing a ‘protest rally’ in Vivekananda Stadium here on Friday.
“Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is a gentleman but what he has delivered in his long tenure? In spite of a power surplus State, Tripura is yet to witness industrialisation leading to the gigantic problem of unemployment”, he pointed out.
Claiming that a strong Modi magic is blowing in the entire nation, Sonowal said BJP is going to be the winner in all the five States including Manipur. “It is very unfortunate that Tripura still remains a laggard due to lack of will on the part of the government. The CPI(M)-led government is not working for the people that resulted in backwardness of the State on all fronts”, he alleged.
Calling upon the people to make up their mind to form a BJP-led government in Tripura to catch up with Modiji’s path of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Bikash’, Sonowal said Assam would always stand by the problems of the State.
BJP general secretary Ram Madhav said, “Tripura is now the worst crime record holder of the country and crime against women is on the rise”.
He alleged that Chief Minister of Tripura now says crime rate in Tripura is decreasing, but the fact is police stations in Tripura do not record the crime or accept the FIRs.
Referring to the murder of MLAs in Tripura, he said “Tripura is the only State in the country, where five MLAs were murdered and a Minister was killed in broad day light”. He alleged that Marxist policy supports the killing of political rivals and they had killed about 30 BJP supporters in Kerala during last six months of their regime.
“Tripura is now the State of highest poverty rate and unfortunately the CPM party is now a party of property, not party of poor people”, said Madhav.
BJP Prabhari Sunil Deodhar, BJP State unit president Biplab Kumar Deb and vice president Subal Bhowmik also spoke in the rally.
Meanwhile, five-time MLA and former Minister Surajit Dutta joined the BJP in the rally by deserting Trinamool Congress.
