Peace meet held at Kokrajhar
 KOKRAJHAR, March 8 - With an eye on preventing unwanted outcomes due to the occurrence of group clashes at Silapothar area of Dhemaji district and making joint effort towards promotion of peaceful coexistence among the different communities, the Kokrajhar district administration today held a peace meeting with the representatives of political parties, student organisations and social workers in the conference hall of the DC’s office here.

The meeting discussed prevailing situation in the district following the incident of Silapothar and resolved to maintain peace and harmony in the district. Participating in the programme, the representatives of Kokrajhar district BJP, Congress, BPF, AGP, CPI (M), AASU, ABSU, BYCP, ABS, BF, AASSA and ABMSU condemned and expressed grave concern over the vandalism incident of Silapothar and resolved to prevent such incidents in the district.

Conducting the meeting, the DC appealed to all the people to refrain from any act that might heighten communal enmity among the ethnic people. He also urged the people of all communities not to believe in rumours without self-verification.

In his speech, Kokrajhar SP Rajen Singh appealed to the people not to allow any incident which might threaten good relation between each other. He further cautioned the people to keep away from uploading any detrimental comments and photographs in the social media which might create misunderstanding among the people.

Among others, ADC B Das, SDO(S) PB Chetri, ACs N Pathak, B Konwar and Deputy SP Shafeequl Hussain also attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) also organised a peace meeting at PWD guest house in Kokrajhar this evening.
