AASU blamed for Silapathar incident
Spl Correspondent
NEW DELHI, March 8 - A rattled Nikhil Bharat Bangali Udbastu Samannay Samiti (NBBUSS), which is in the eye of a storm in Assam, today denied its involvement in the Silapathar incident.

The organisation’s general secretary Ambika Roy told newsmen here that the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) workers first pelted stones at the rally participants before vandalising their own office to defame the NBBUSS. Roy held that the entire episode was a conspiracy to divide the Bengali community and malign their organisation.

Replying to questions, he argued that their organisation has been holding rallies all over the country highlighting the issue of granting citizenship to Hindu Bengalis coming to India from Bangladesh and there was no violence anywhere. The general secretary, however, clarified that the ‘prime accused’ Dr Subodh Biswas was in Assam.
