GUWAHATI, March 8 – Preparation is on at Sri Sri Bhimeswar Dwadas Jyotirlinga Panchadhara Shiva Dham at Daini Bama (Dakini Pahar), Pamohi near Gorchuk for celebration of Shiva Ratri on Sunday.
On the occasion, the Brahmon Sobha, a registered society of the Brahmins will perform Rudra Jagna, a press release said.
The Dham is situated about 3 km away from Gorchuk Chariali on the national highway towards Meghalaya – a landmark being Parijat Academy, Pamohi.
Jyotirlingas are the seat where Lord Shiva stays eternally. Legend has it that a demon, Bhima, who wrought havoc upon the people in the area, was slain by Shiva, as the demon tried to kill king Kamrupeswar engaged in Shiva worship.
Shiva Purana and the Koti Rudra Samhita refer to one of the 12 Jyotirlingas (6th in the row of Jyotirlingas at Kedarnath, Vishwanath, Somnath, Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar, Rameshwaram, Mallikarjuna, Trayambakeshwar, Nageshwar, Baijnath, Grishneshwar) at Bhimashankar temple in the Kamarupa country (Daakine Bhimashankaram) in Assam.
Thousands of devotees will be offering prayers at the temple on Shiva Ratri day.
