Recounting at a later date in Goalpara
 GOALPARA, March 1 The Assam State Election Commission has in a letter dated February 26, 2013 directed the Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer, Goalpara to resume counting of votes at a convenient date for those anchalik panchayat constituencies where elections to members have been completed and ballots are in the box. The ASEC further instructed that counting should also be done in case of goan panchayat president where voting has taken place in all the polling stations covering the goan panchayat while in case of goan panchayat member counting should be done wherever voting has been completed in the said constituency.

 Meanwhile, the ASEC has directed the Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer not to count votes of those zilla parishad member constituency where election could not be held in all the polling stations of the zilla parishad areas but the ballots of ZP constituency found in the boxes of a polling booth while counting the votes of anchalik panchayat member and goan panchayat member should be taken out separately without exposing to public and put in a big envelope and sealed in presence of zilla parishad candidates or their authorised agents with their signature obtained along with the name and number of polling station with total number of ballots on the body of the envelope.

It may be mentioned here that the counting of votes in the violence marred Panchayat polls held in the third and final phase on February 12 in the district to all the ZPCs, APs and GPs were left incomplete as polling could not held in 171 polling stations out of a total of 825 in the district, while in another 18, there was absence of any contesting candidates. Only results of 6 out of 16 ZPC in the districts were announced earlier.
