Green Valley SC bracing up for I-League

 GUWAHATI, March 1 – Guwahati Sports Association’s (GSA) Super League outfit Green Valley Sports Club is all set to take part in the 2nd Division Indian Football League (I-League), scheduled to be held at Indore from March 9.

Pulak Goswami, the president of the Club, addressing the media here today said, they have picked up 26 players to represent the Club in the forth coming championship and experienced coach Sankar Moitra of Bengal has been entrusted as chief coach and Naresh Chetry as his deputy.

Goswami said last year they remained unbeaten in the 6-team group but due to bad luck they could not qualify for the higher stage.

This time also the team official hope for a good show and make it to the knock-stage from the group. However, this time Green Valley have to face tough teams like Simla Youngs, PIFA Sports, Aizwal FC, EMTA Md Sporting Club, Royal Wahingdoh FC, Techno Aryan, Bhawinipur FC, Josco FC.

Goswami revealed that they have included players like Laldaniel, Mosho Murmo, Aruban Ronald Singh, Binod Bauri, Lucky Imran, Ogunbiyi Taiwo Sayo, Bikash Narjinary etc which will enhance their power on the field. He also thanked Assam Cricket Association secretary Bikash Baruah for providing physio Jaspal Singh for the team.

Coach Mitra said, the team has some deficiency in its attacking line as some of the key players are in the injury list. He further said, although he did not get adequate time to prepare the team, he hoped all the players are in good shape and will be able to over power their opponents in all departments.

GSA president Rana Goswami thanked the Green Valley officials for putting effort in building the team professionally. He hoped more persons or organisations like Pulak Goswami or Green Valley Pvt Ltd will come forward to prepare football teams which will help Assam in producing quality footballers.

Green Valley SC secretary Ibocha Singh explained about the team composition.

Assam Football Association official Plaban Baruah offered his best wishes to the team.

Green Valley will play their first match on March 9 against Aizwal FC.
