KOHIMA, March 1 – Neiphiu Rio, who led the Naga Peoples Front back to power for a third consecutive term, was today formally elected to lead the new government in Nagaland.
Rio was elected the NPF Legislature Party leader at a meeting of the party here for a third term as Chief Minister.
NPF sources said that Rio was expected to meet Governor Nikhil Kumar in the next few says to stake claim to form the government.
NPF won 38 seats in the 60-member Assembly with an effective strength of 59. – PTI
KSDC suspends Manipur blockade
IMPHAL, March 1 – The Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) has suspended their indefinite public blockade in Manipur following an appeal by Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) in view of the ongoing Matric and higher secondary examination in the State.
The blockade was launched on February 24 midnight in the Kuki-inhabited areas after the Centre failed to fulfil their demand of dialogue with the Kuki militants to end the Kuki issue.
“KSDC decided to suspend the ongoing public blockade from 7.30 pm yesterday”, the KSDC said in a press release on Thursday.
