Dharna over KMSS leader’s death

 GOlaghat March 1 – The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity, Barpather here launched a dharna programme today in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Golaghat and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Golaghat.

The dharna was launched for the demise of KMSS leader Anjan Baruah who had allegedly committed suicide in his residence at Tengani under Barpather police station.

Late Anjan Baruah was compelled to commit suicide due to police atrocities in the Barpather police station after his arrest by the police task force, it has been alleged.

The family members of Anjan Baruah alleged that the police officer-in-charge, Barpather PS – Ranjan Moran was responsible for Anjan’s death.

The KMSS under the leadership of several leaders of KMSS, Barpather submitted a memorandum on February 28 to the Deputy Commissioner, Golaghat in which the leaders had demanded immediate suspension of Barpather police station’s officer-in-charge Ranjan Moran.

The protesters numbering more than one thousand demanded punishment to the police officer immediately.

The Deputy Commissioner assured them to start a magisterial enquiry and within 15 days the report would be announced.
