Flood water submerges over 44 villages in Nagaon dist

 NAGAON, June 29 - Due to incessant rains for over a couple of days, the overflowing water of the Brahmaputra, Kopili and tributaries inundated over 44 villages under Kaliabor, Samaguri, Dhing and Kampur revenue circles in the district and ravaged more than 842.6 hectares of crop land within the last 24 hours.

 Besides, around 14,127 persons as well as 3,096 animals were affected in various revenue circles during the second wave of flood in the district.

Sources said that due to incessant rains, the Brahmaputra is flowing 02 cm above the danger level across Nagaon, while Kopili river is flowing 92 cm above its danger level. Similarly, the Kolong river is flowing 8 cm above the danger level.

According to sources, eight villages under Kaliabor Revenue Circle, nine villages under Samaguri Revenue Circle, 10 villages under Dhing Revenue Circle and 17 villages under Kampur Revenue Circle have been submerged by flood water in the second wave of flood in the district. It is assumed that the flood water may inundate more villages in more revenue circles within the next 24 hours.
