KOLKATA, June 29 (PTI): A Barasat court today directed submission of the chromosome pattern report of 2006 Asian Games gold medalist Pinki Pramanik, accused of rape and gender misrepresentation, to determine her sex while extending the athlete’s judicial remand to July 12.Chief Judicial Magistrate, Barasat, Anita Mathur directed that Pramanik’s blood samples be sent to Hyderabad or Mumbai for the chromosome pattern test, known as karyotyping, to establish the gender of the athlete, whose prayer for bail was rejected.
An official at the state-run SSKM Hospital, where Pramanik’s gender determination tests, excluding the chromosome pattern test, were conducted, said it would require about seven to 10 days to get the results.
