Tinsukia scribe honoured for speading awareness on environment

 DOOMDOOMA, June 24 - The Asam Sahitya Sabha has initiated a project titled ‘Seuj Jatra’ for safety and security of our environment and nature in collaboration with Jeevan Ram Mungi Devi Goenka Public Charity Trust.

As a part of this programme, several environmental activists across the State were honoured and felicitated by the Sabha for their remarkable contribution towards this cause.

Senior journalist of Tinsukia and the president of Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association (TDJA), Dr Rishi Das was also honoured and felicitated by the Sabha.

A retired Professor of the Zoology Department of Tinsukia College, Dr Das has been working for spreading environmental education among the masses since long. He is associated with ‘EdEn’ – a society for environment education and, at present, he is the secretary of the society.

Sabha president Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi presented the honour to Dr Das in the open session of the biennial conference of Ledo Sakha Sahitya Sabha held on Saturday.

Talking to this Correspondent, Dr Das expressed his gratitude to the apex literary body of the State for selecting him for this honour. “This award has multiplied my responsibilities,” he added.
