GUWAHATI, June 24 - A minor girl was rescued from the clutches of her trafficker near the Rangiya PS on Wednesday by NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan.

Acting on prior information, BBA members, along with the police, searched the girl at several places including the Guwahati Railway Station. The girl, aged about 16 years, hails from a village under Harisinga in Udalguri district.

Jubil Lalung, State in-charge of BBA, told this reporter that the trafficker forced the victim’s parents to hand over their ward after they failed to repay the loan they had taken from her. The trafficker, who was also from the same village, has been arrested.
