Bandh hits normal life in Manipur
Newmai News
IMPHAL, June 24 - Normal life in Manipur valley was severely affected since the last two days due to a 48-hour State wide general strike called by a JAC against declaration of wanted tag on Ratan Khomdram, former convenor of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS).

On the second and final day of the strike, normal life was thrown out of gear as all commercial activities, educational institutes, both private and Government establishments remained disrupted. Vehicles were off the road. All major markets remained closed for the last two days.

JCILPS, a conglomerate of citizens, has been spearheading a sustained public movement demanding introduction of ILP in Manipur. Former convenor of the joint committee, Ratan Khomdram is currently facing a wanted tag and also a cash reward on his head declared by the Manipur Government after accusing him of working for the banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF) outfit.

Ratan denied the charges saying the primary aim of the Government move was to derail the public stir. The JAC against declaration of wanted tag on Ratan has demanded that the Government should remove the wanted tag and FIR from the former JCILPS leader immediately.
